Customs advice:

  • Remember to validate your Tax Free forms at Customs at the last exit point before leaving EU.
  • Tax Free Forms issued in Spain must be validated at Diva kiosk, if you are leaving the EU from Spain.
  • If you are leaving the EU from another country or you have forms issued in other countries, please go to Customs to obtain a physical Customs stamp.

Special note:

  • If you shopped in Spain and you leave the EU from Spain, validate you Spanish Tax Free Form at Diva kiosk.
  • Go to a DIVA kiosk at your departure airport or seaport in Spain.
  • Scan the barcode on your Spanish Tax Free Form.
  • Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  • Note: Red rejection screen requires Customs inspection. Go to Customs.
  • If you shopped in Spain but you are travelling via another EU country before leaving the EU (for example, Madrid → Paris → New York), you must not use a DIVA kiosk. Instead, Customs validation must be obtained at your actual point of exit from the European Union, in this example, Paris. If you do not follow this rule, the refund will be denied. If your DIVA validation is rejected, Customs approval cannot subsequently be obtained in another country.
  • Important: Tax Free forms issued in other countries cannot be validated at Spanish DIVA kiosks. If you have a Tax Free form from another EU country, you must present the form, goods, and supporting travel documents to Customs and obtain a physical Customs stamp before leaving the EU.

  • At the airport, please allow enough time for Customs approval process before your flight departs.
  • Make sure the goods are sealed and unused.
  • If you are a resident of the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla your Tax Free form can be duly export validated by the respective Customs, previous payment of the IGIC Tax in Canary Islands and the IPSI Tax in the case of Ceuta and Melilla.
  • If you are departing a Spanish airport but changing flights at another EU airport, and if the goods you are exporting are to be checked through to a destination outside the EU, go to Customs at the Spanish airport and your Tax Free form will be export validated as if you were at the EU departure point.
  • In smaller airports, there may be no Customs Official present, in this case, look for the Customs deposit box and instructions.
